Stereoscopic 3D is not like 3D in the 20th century, as seen in theme parks with the help of anaglyph goggles (red and green). Rather, it is one of the greatest technical innovations in movie industry, comparable to the apparition of talkies and color movies.
Stereoscopy in the 21st century tries to recreate what human sight perceives naturally: tridimensional images. In order for the brain to appreciate this depth, the information from both eyes (left and right) is needed from different angles. The brain grasps both images (from the right eye and from the left eye) and merges them, re-constructing the distance and creating the impression of depth.

Using two cameras with a small difference in angle, the image that both the right eye and the left eye will see are recorded simultaneously. |

Both images are superimposed; thanks to the 3D goggles, which filter the light waves and project them in certain angle, we obtain the feeling of depth. This new system of stereoscopy allows the viewer to feel the impression of depth and creates the feeling of immersing in the movie, in the story, of living it as if he was one more character in the movie.
Antārtida Produccions opens a new door to the future in the audiovisual world, and creates a new department specialized in stereoscopic 3D. We firmly believe in this technology and we commit ourselves to it.
Antártida Productions is developing Bigas Lunas new film, Second Origin, based on Manuel de Pedrolos novel Mecanoscrit del Segon Origen (Second origin typescript). The production is intended to be shot using stereoscopic 3D.
Antārtida Productions produced the film teaser in stereoscopic 3D in April 2009. The teaser of the film Second Origin could be seen within the Marché du Film in Cannes 2009.
On the other hand, Antārtida Produccions is working on the development of audiovisual products in stereoscopic 3D in the documentary genre.
The TV show La Malla from the local TV network (Xarxa de Televisions Locals) had talks with Antārtida Produccions about the revolution of 3D. Carles Porta, Antārtidas executive producer, explains how this technological revolution can affect both production companies and contents that will be offered to the audience.
